    Something in the back of my head says:

    “Cancer survivor” sounds so victimlike. Can’t you do better, Mr. Wordsmith?

    So, how about “cancer mama”? Let’s try it out:

    “… Laura’s first as a cancer mama.”

    I think I like it better.

    No chemo, as it turns out. But she has started on tamoxifen. So sometimes I call her Tammy.
